Or it may be used apart from the massage as a therapy itself, complimenting other techniques such as acupuncture, reflexology, etc. For personal use, body brushing is recommended. Buy a natural bristle brush, not synthetic, since it does not scratch the surface of the skin. Buy a brush with a long handle so that you will be able to get to most areas of your body. Do not wet the skin as it will not have the same effect because water stretches the skin.
